Southend FC celebrated their 50th year with a friendly match against Oban Saints at Daliburgh School on Saturday 24th July, 2010. Oban Saints were crowned the Umbro Scottish Amateur Football Premier Division Champions in 2009/10 and their class was evident on the day as they recorded a 12-0 victory. Southend started the match well but failed to gain any momentum or cohesion as they celebrated the occasion by giving past and future players the opportunity to participate in the match.
Afterwards, both teams enjoyed a meal in St Peter's Hall followed by a ceilidh dance. Various comemarative gifts were exchanged and speeches made which rounded of an enjoyable evening.
Southend FC would like to thank Oban Saints for making the trip to Uist and providing the friendship trophy. Southend hope to return the favour in the near future!!
Below are some photos of the occasion.
